Board game

The DND Games

OF ALL DND GAMES

During my grad semester at Emily Carr University, I wanted a thesis project that was fun, personal, and meaningful. Board games have always been a way for me to escape, connect with friends, and challenge my mind. Inspired by the countless Dungeons and Dragons campaigns I played with close friends, I created an easy-to-learn board game as a tribute to those moments and the people who helped keep me grounded during university.

My game was a huge success and gained a lot of attention at the exhibition. Crowds gathered, taking pictures and admiring it. I was even honored to be congratulated by the Dean of Design at my university and her son, who were both impressed by the game. They suggested it would be a hit, and even said they’d buy it. They encouraged me to consider mass production—something I definitely hope to pursue in the near future.

Rules About

The Game:

Curious about my game? Why don’t we flip through my pamphlet and discover more.

The Creation of My Cards

One of the toughest parts of my project was creating the cards, which featured characters, items, monsters, and events. With the help of my cousin, animator/illustrator Jaea Raymundo, we collaborated to design some impressive character designs and visuals for the cards.

Item Cards

In the game, players navigate mazes to reach question marks that may uncover treasure chests, which can aid in defeating monsters or escaping their maze. As they collect items, they unlock side quests, including a challenge to become the richest player—offering an advantage when the group tries to escape together.

Character

Creation

With the ideation of the characters, I wanted to give multiple players different options to choose from. With each character comes a different personality, species and power to which my cousin carried out through the work of his illustrations.

Monster

Cards?

To add more of a challenge, I decided to hide the fact that players might encounter monsters when they land on a question mark in the maze, making the game more thrilling. The question mark cards could either reveal a treasure chest with useful items or lead them straight to an instant battle with a monster.

THE MAZE

*

THE MAZE *

Players can pick their own maze and decide how many will join the adventure. Each maze takes them through exciting, dynamic environments inspired by the wonders of a forest, full of surprises at every turn!
